Tried to kill it
Put my hopes to bed
Somehow I found myself there, laying next to you instead
When understanding comes the moment’s gone
And in the headlight’s glare I’m frozen here upon this middle ground
Same lines
Make me another offer
You’ve heard them all before
I can’t understand you asking me to choose
Just a different face, a different day
I don’t need
But we can’t help it
The shade you bring to me
Funny how the static lingers on
On and on your image clings to everything
This time I think I’ll change my name
I touch turns into gold
Cause no one recognizes a stranger
My own is tarnishing
But it won’t help me, and while I lose my soul
Not worth a thing to me
Find that I can’t be myself with you
So hold the door closed
Let my ghost slip through
Cause in the midst of all these shadows
Room is empty
Same lines
Make me another offer
You’ve heard them all before
I can’t understand you asking me to choose
It’s just a different face, a different day
We lose
I don’t need
But we can’t help it and we can’t let them go
The shade you bring to me
Funny how we never let them go
It’s all the same
We speak the same lines
And all this anger turns to apathy
It’s next to nothing
At least not much to me
The words we yet to learn and all the pages in between
Each time the wound breaks open I think I’m better off alone
Silent footsteps coming up to bed
Change leftover or a love left said
You are nothing I’ve never been
Just leave me something
I’ll take anything at all
And all this anger leads to apathy
It’s next to nothing, at least not much to me
The words we’ve never learned and all the pages in between
Each time the wound breaks open I think I’m better off alone
I think I’m better off alone

This album is amazing from start to finish! It's got such a cool, poetic, punk rock vibe. Hits the soul, for real. Please come play in Miami, Florida soon! Thank you for your art! richnice1975

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
